Millas : Parish Church Sainte-Eulalie and Sainte-Julie

The church was mentioned for the first time in 1137 and was then attached to the chapter of Elne. The bell tower is the oldest part of the whole. Probably built in the 11th century, it has long been used to house the relics and the treasure of the church in its lower room, in addition to a stock of weapons. The old porch, located next to the bell tower, was transformed into a chapel in 1877. The door kept its framing in marble, decorated with palmettes, and can be dated from the 12th century. There are not other visible vestiges of the Romanesque church, which was subsequently rebuilt according to a larger plan. This important renovation probably took place in the 15th century. The 19th century led to major modifications to the building (1852: construction or repair of the vault of the nave; 1877: displacement of the porch; 1879: reconstruction of the chapel of Notre-Dame du Bon-Conseil and construction of the Chapel of the Sacred Heart ...).
