Villelongue-dels-Monts : Vilar Notre-Dame Chapel

The first mention of this place dates from 1089. The church was rebuilt at the beginning of the 12th century and was consecrated in 1142. It was under the jurisdiction of the priory of Llado. Regular canons of Saint-Augustin have established a monastery there. The building is designed in the form of a Latin cross, oriented, with a single nave, a transept offering an absidiole, and a semi-circular apse. The nave has a broken cradle vault. The transept's arms have transverse semicircular cradle vaults. Each arm is equipped east with a semi-circular vaulted apricular in oven ass. The apse, semi-circular in shape, is also covered with an oven ass, established at a level lower than that of the nave. A diaphragm arc connects both levels. The gable of the facade is surmounted by a two -slopes tin and a single semicircular arcade. On each side of the front door, three funeral inscriptions are fixed on rectangular plates on the wall. Inside, the walls of the apse are decorated with Romanesque frescoes, including a false leased, a series of arcades housing apostles, as well as a mandorle surrounded by the symbols of the evangelists.
