The Castillet consists of three elements: first of all, the Grand Castillet, built around 1368 to protect the new open door at the time in the city ramparts; Then, the Notre-Dame or Petit Castillet door, which is attached to the east side of the Grand Castillet and was erected between 1481 and 1485; Finally, a polygonal bastion built in 1542 in front of the Grand Castillet to secure access. Until 1892, Castillet was used as a military prison, then as annexes of a barracks.
