The registration includes, in addition to the year 1431, the following sentence: "Del Hostal de Sant Johan". Since this plaque is affixed to a cross in the shape of a Malta cross, it is certain that it comes from a foundation of the Hospitallers of Saint-Jean de Jerusalem. The creation of a hospital of this order in Perpignan is already reported in two documents dating from the 12th century.
