Description
Orle is an ancient village of medieval origin located on the southwest periphery of Perpignan, in the current area of the Saint-Charles national market. This sector has grown up a lot over the past twenty years, and in -depth archaeological research has been carried out there thanks to various development projects. These studies have revealed an intermittent occupation since the Neolithic. The Orle site, which is located along avenue Julien Panchot (old road in Toulouges), revolves around a medieval chapel dedicated to Saint-Etienne, which has been part of a wine mas since the beginning of the 19th century. There is also the church and the cemetery which date from the High Middle Ages, as well as the vestiges of the village which formed there around Mil and which was gradually abandoned from the 14th century.
