Description
Under the influence of the Duchess of Berry, which popularizes sea baths in Dieppe, the architect P. F. Frissard developed the theater plans in 1826, including a lodge and an apartment for the Duchess. In 1900, the architect Pierre Chevalier supervised the expansion of the theater, adding a home overlooking the sea, whose facade was embellished with a rocky decor typical of the Belle Epoque. The room is refurbished and decorated with paintings made by Gaston Jobbe-Duval. The building undergoes damage during the Allied landing on August 19, 1942. In 1949, the roof was partially repaired, and catering work in 1962 ensures the waterproofing of the building, but these works further disfigure the two remaining facades.
