Description
This church was built between 1924 and 1926 by the entrepreneur Georges Lanfry, according to the plans of architects Georges Feray de Dieppe and Louis Filliol, on the initiative of sociologist Laborde-Noguez, to accompany the expansion of the workers' district of Janval, on the heights of Dieppe. Its architecture reflects a regionalist style. The checkered pattern made with small bricks hides the concrete structure. The church has a bell tower, three naves that lead to an apse with ambulatory, a protruding transept, as well as a crypt under the choir. A small inner cloister accesses the sacristy. The whole is completed by a presbytery of similar style. This church has a more traditional style than that of Saint-Jean-Eudes in Rouen, built at the same period and in a comparable context, both in its design and in its form and the discreet use of concrete.
