Description
A set of fortifications designed by Napoleon I to improve the defense of the Mediterranean coasts. Construction began in 1810, but the majority of the forts were erected between 1841 and 1861. The battery of the Medes was a rectangular structure attached to the cliff, protected on the side of the sea by a wall. The entrance is reinforced and is located in the southwest. It is a battery dating from the 18th century, modified in 1811 and then completed in the 1840s.
