Description
The construction of a first Castellum begins in the middle of the 10th century. A castle was mentioned at the beginning of the 11th century. During the 12th and 13th centuries, the Lusignan family reached its peak. In 1308, the castle became property of the king. At the end of the 14th century, work was carried out by Jean de Berry, which continued until 1463, the year of the completion of the Saint-Michel chapel. The castle was demolished in royal order in 1586; Only the Mélusine tower remained up until 1622. In the 18th century, a walk was set up on the castle site.
