The temple, built between 1881 and 1883 by the architect E. Boyer, combined two distinct styles: a neo-Gothic style outside and a neo-Roman style inside. It has a large capacity, which can contain up to 800 people. The sculptures were produced by Dumas, originally from Niort, while the furniture was designed by Robin, a cabinetmaker from Poitiers. Stained glass was also added in 1967.
