Description

This castle, associated with Cathar history, was mentioned in 1180. In the 13th century, it turned into a refuge and a bastion of resistance for the Albigensians. After the capitulation of the Count of Foix in 1272, the King of France ordered his confiscation. The dungeon was rebuilt in the 14th century, with modifications made in the 15th and 16th centuries. Louis XIII gave the order to demolish the castle in 1632.
