Champagnac : Cemetery cross

The barrel of this cross, dating from the 15th or 16th century, is decorated with a circular gout -shaped node, which links it to a conical element forming the lower part of the amount of the cross. The arms, with a polygonal shape, end, as is the amount, with fiery flagships with four leaves which are swollen, bent and curly. A circular nimbe, both serrated inside and outside, connects the arms to the amount. On the north face of the cross, there is a representation of the crucified Christ, carrying a crown on the head, below the sign carrying the inscription "Inri". On the southern face, the Virgin, crowned and holding the child, also crowned, is represented standing under a canopy in the shape of a roof, decorated with clovers. To the right of the Virgin, a small bust character is sculpted on the arm of the cross. A second character was also to appear on the opposite arm. Due to its degraded state, the municipality has decided to remove the cross; The remains, which consist of the base and part of the barrel, are currently kept in an individual.
