Description
The conventual buildings, which were next to the old church of the disastrous carmes, were redeveloped to become the Museum of Natural History in 1861. An impressive facade with an Doric Tetrastyle portico, created by the urban architect Vitry, was added to serve as an entrance to the Medicine School which occupied the premises after 1820. The architect also extended the northern facade. Four Doric columns support a triangular pediment where the word "museum" is written.
