Toulouse : Stock Exchange Hotel

The hotel was erected in 1836 by the architects Bonnal and Raynaud on the site of the former Merchant Stock Exchange, which had been established in 1781 in the Bastard hotel. In 1834, the municipality asked the State to transfer the former Benedictines de la Daurade to the city, which was then occupied by the tobacco administration. As this request was rejected, it was decided to build a building on the Place de la Bourse. It is an important building in pink bricks, with two levels. The ground floor is embellished with four large semicircular openings, separated by pilasters buttresses. On the first floor, large, semicircular framed windows are supported by ionic columns and surmounted by a cornice with a large attic. This building is an interesting example of palladian style architecture, Italian influence, which is quite rare in Toulouse at the end of the 19th century.
