Description

The latrines tower, mentioned on the plan of the 17th century monasticum gallicanum, could date from the 14th century, being designed for collective latrines in pit. The Church of La Daurade was destroyed in 1761, while the convent buildings were demolished in 1811. The tower present of the walled openings, organized by three, on the upper part west and halfway up. These rounded -shaped openings are entirely in bricks. Halfway, a horizontal brick glaze seems to have been designed to redirect the spills to the center of the tower. A brick discharge arc is located on the eastern lower flank, while another is located on the upper southern flank. The southern side of the tower has two large diaphragm arcs, one being cantilever and offbeat compared to the other. Terracotta tilted conduits on the eastern upper side suggest an added posterior addition. A spillway, located in the north-east superior corner, seems to be intended to guide rainwater towards the center of the tower. In the center of the space used to collect excrement is a circular well. The evacuation of smells could be done from above, as indicated by the tower located in height.
