Montbrun-Lauragais : Windmill

This tower-shaped mill, built in bricks on a hill, displays the date of 1680 above the lintel of one of its two single-storey entries. This double entry is not very common in the region. On the ground floor, there are the two pairs of grinding wheels, typical equipment of the Lauragais windmills. Arrested before the First World War, this mill was renovated by Raymond Pastre, a carpenter from Moulin de Mourvilles-Hautes, between 1948 and 1950, then restarted by Marius Hebrard. The latter the team of a Leroy electric motor of 12 hp and a grain shredder between 1953 and 1954. The mill stopped operating in 1962. Acquired by the town in 1991, it was restored in 2000. Outside, the tower is coated, the roof and the wings are replaced, and all the internal mechanisms are redone, with the exception of the wheels and the engine tree, to make it operational.
