Description
Built in the 12th century in the center of the "Castrum Novum" by the counts of Comminges, which made their capital, the church was renovated and enlarged in the 14th and 15th centuries. It has an octagonal bell tower in Toulouse style. Between 1538 and 1548, a large vaulted choir was added to the Gothic nave dressed in wood, with a crypt developed below. Work also took place during the classic period. In the 19th century, a neo-classical decor was created for the choir under the Empire, and the nave received a wooden vaulting, as well as the construction of side chapels.
