Jacques Alleman was responsible for the rehabilitation of the southeast part of the Grand'Place, following the almost complete destruction of the city center during the First World War. He designed a unique regionalist style, while preserving the layout of the square and the old plots. He created a theatrical urban environment and developed a charming neo-flaming style with very sharp gables. Each building has a business on the ground floor and apartments on the upper floors.
