Sahorre : Saint-Etienne Church

The church is built in carefully cut and assembled granite stones. Its nave is rectangular, without transept, and ends with a round apse. On each side of the choir, two oven ass absidiles are integrated into the thickness of the walls, without exceeding outside. A door was created to the south to protect the public rallies that took place after the Winds of the Tramontane winds. The bell tower, which dates back a few years after the church, is to the north. It is built in gear, with corner chains. Its tower, with a square base, has three levels. The first level has a semicircular window, while the two upper levels have twinned windows, those at the top being decorated with central columns. The building roof is quite rare for the time and the region. The entire sculpted decoration is reserved for the apse, which presents protruding arches, surmounted by a white marble saw tooth. In the center, a window is decorated with four white marble columns, with capitals carved with animal or plant patterns.
