Baixas : Notre-Dame Church

The church, founded in the Romanesque time, consists today of a large vaulted nave of warheads, with side chapels between the buttresses. The initial nave, dating from the 12th century, was to be covered with a wooden frame. To the west, a large gable has only one window. The old apse no longer exists and was replaced by the current entrance. The stone vaults that cover it date from the end of the 14th century. Arcatures were added to the external walls, probably in the 18th century, as indicated by a date of 1768 on one of the archivolts. The first chapel, located south along the bell tower, seems to be original. The bell tower itself dates back to the 12th century, with the exception of the upper part. It has two vaulted levels in warlift, embellished with arcatures and outdoor bands in the Lombard style. The last level, with groanwords, is crenellated.
