Description
Between 1763 and 1764, the global defense plan of Toulon included the construction of two redoubts in the eastern part of the mountain: one at the Faron cross and the other on an inner dish at the site of the future Fort Faron. To create the Redoute de Faron, the distance to the city first requires the establishment of a site camp, equipped with a tank to provide the water necessary for the work. Designed and built by the Louis d'Aiguillon sub-brigadier in 1766, this service building was, the following year, integrated into the permanent defensive system; Surrounded by an enclosure and a ditch, it turns into a fortified barracks.
