Description
In the 19th century, the city of Hyères developed as a climate and tourist destination. From the 1860s, promoter Alexis Godillot built a new district west of the city. He frequently collaborates with the architect Pierre Chapourt, who is responsible for most buildings in this district, including villas, hotels and a church. Among the constructions, three orientalist villas are built, including the Tunisian villa in 1884, where Godillot established his residence and his agency. Although the exterior of the villa has remained unchanged, the interior was completely reshaped, eliminating all the original elements. The house has characteristics of the neo-masure style, such as arcs overpacked, merlons and polychrome decorations.
