Description
The first suspension bridge was built in 1845, connecting the two banks of Vienne, and was replaced by a new bridge open to traffic in 1932. The latter was the subject of two large catering campaigns in 1973 and 1989. It is composed of a large central span suspended by two arches, as well as two independent access lines. It is a metal structure with a concrete coating. The pylons are also in concrete, surrounding metal structures. As a last suspension bridge over Vienne, it is distinguished by its innovation and modernity, testifying to the continuous use of steel in the construction of major works.
