Description
The spinning mill was founded in 1856 on the foundations of a water mill, which had been replaced at the beginning of the 19th century by a flour mill. From 1863, the place took its current magnitude with the construction of numerous workshops, warehouses and offices. Representing the industrial revolution in Poitou-Charentes well, its evolution highlights the importance given to new technologies in each era. The presence of a rare Callon turbine of 1860 and a Bollée ram adds a heritage value to this factory as a technical element. In addition, a large working -class city on the site also reflects the paternalistic management of human resources, which was part of the general logic of industrial development of this period.
