Toulouse : Maison des Verrières or Castel-Gesta

The castle was built around 1860 by the Maître-Verrier Louis-Victor Gesta, who played an important role in the rebirth of glass painting in the 19th century. He first created the workshops of his factory in 1852, including an oven surmounted by a high fireplace and a house. Subsequently, he built an exhibition building on two levels, to which he added a new residential building with a turret to the northeast and two protruding turrets in the southeast. Decorative elements of the 15th and 16th centuries were reused, especially on the vaults of the northeast turret, in the protruding gargoyles of the southern and north facades, as well as in the pediment above the northern door. The Salle des Illustres presents an iconographic set paying tribute to the great men of Toulouse, with the contribution of the painter Benezet who made canvases applied to the ceiling and wall scenes.
