Description
It is one of the last major first category headlights built at the end of the 19th century. The decision of its construction was made between 1899 and 1900. It was designed by engineer Hermann-Guiche and produced by entrepreneurs Massol and Toglia. The lantern was installed in 1902 and the lighthouse was lit for the first time in 1903. It was octagonal, slightly pyramidal. The lantern is decorated with lions head sculptures and acanthus leaves. Its dome is copper and cylindrical glazing is spread over three levels. Close to the lighthouse, at the rear, several buildings house the housing of the guards as well as the technical rooms, garages, a well, a garden and a land, all being surrounded by a grid fence on Murette.
