Jujols : Saint-Julien and Sand-Basilisse Church

The church is the subject of a mention in 1277. It consists of a single nave which extends to the east by an apse in the form of a semicircle. On the south side, a square bell tower is supported against the building, and it seems to have been lowered compared to its original level. This bell tower is decorated with a campaign arch which could represent one of the faces of the initial bell tower. It was built at the same time as the nave and the apse, although it is possible that it was associated with an old traffic tower. The apse is decorated with a continuous Lombard arcature, based on flat buttresses at both ends. At the front of the nave, on the south side, a porch was added, extending the alignment of the bell tower and forming a kind of collateral. This porch is old and has a semicircular Romanesque door, with double roll, which still retains its leaves with Catalan style fittings. The northern side wall experienced movements which required, in 1951 and 1960, the construction of three tapered buttresses.
