The fort is on a hill and defends the roads leading to Saint-Laurent-de-Cerdans. The plans were carried out by the military engineer Saint-Hilaire, while the construction was carried out by Mr. Rousselot. The works started in 1670 and ended in 1674. This small bastioned was built to replace an old tower which had been destroyed in 1668. The Spaniards besieged it in 1674 and he experienced a blockade in 1793.
