Perpignan : Saint-Sauveur ladies convent

The creation of the Monastery of the Canons of Saint-Sauveur dates back to the years 1230-1240. The decree of August 4, 1792 put an end to the existence of this convent, dispersing and demanding its members, while its goods were liquidated. Today, only the chapter room of the Dame Convent remains. This room looks like that of the Dominican convent, but it has the particularity of keeping its choir. This explains that she has a double function, both of chapter room and chapel. Only the lower part of the choir has been preserved, until the two angle tubes are born. With a square shape on the ground floor, it becomes octagonal on the first floor thanks to the tubes. It has an octopartite vault decorated with ribs. Each wall has a broken arc bay, except the East wall which has an oculus. On the impasse Zola, the broken arc door which led to the cloister remains, surrounded by two bays, all in white marble.
